Laura Lowder, Ed.D. Curriculum and Instruction
Dr. Lowder successfully defended her doctoral dissertation at the University of Florida in Gainesville in May 2013. Her research focus and disciplinary focus area for course work was the integration of technology into teaching and learning with relevant coursework in distance education. She is prepared to maintain effective teaching and learning in a COVID-19 pandemic world. Rest easy, our students haven't skipped a beat and many are accelerating ahead over the summer months.
Michael Lowder, M.S.Genetics; B.S. Biology
Mr. Lowder graduated from San Diego State University in 2002 with a Masters in Genetics. His research focus was the discovery and taxonomy of spiders. He spent much of six years collecting rare species of spiders from North and South America and has discovered never-before collected spider with his faculty advisor and mentor. He continues to hunt spiders with his mentors from Western Carolina University and San Diego State University every chance he can get.
Julianna Tauschinger-DempseY, Harvard & Manhattan S.of Music
Mrs. Tauschinger-Dempsey graduated from Harvard University with highest honors in Social Anthropology. During this time, she served in the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning where she examined research in the field of education and filmed hundreds of hours of teaching and teaching coachings. She earned a Master's in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music and sang with the Boston Lyric Opera and the Zurich Opera.
Caroline Sowards B.A. Psychology; M.A. Counseling
Mrs. Sowards graduated college early from Pfeiffer University with a degree in and passion for psychology. She soon-after earned her Masters degree in Counseling, completing internships in play therapy and professional school counseling with Stanly County Schools. Her experience includes public school guidance counseling, counseling and career services at Stanly Community College, taught English in Uruguay, and currently serves as the Director of Internships and Career Planning at Pfeiffer University.
Hannah Park B.A. Elementary Education; M.Ed. Education
Mrs. Park was born and raised in Monroe, North Carolina. Growing up, her father was a General in the United States Army. Because of his career, from a young age, she traveled to many places and was exposed to a wide variety of schools and cultures. Mrs. Park holds bachelor and master's degrees in elementary education from Pfeiffer University. During her time at Pfeiffer University, she played women's soccer.
Mrs. Park believes that the purpose of education is to create individuals who are profoundly diverse and who are forever eager to better their quality of life. Mrs. Park believes education serves to teach students how to thrive in the world in which they live. She considers herself a ‘forever student’ eager to both build on her academic foundations in curriculum and technology.
